I Love You with The Love of The Lord
Pastor Franklyn Ruth · Pastor
From the Pastor’s Desk
You are wanted here, before you ever walk through the door
Grace and peace to you. If you are looking for a church home, or if you are simply curious, we would count it a joy to have you with us. Canaan is a family of believers who love the Lord, love His Word, and love one another — and we make room for whoever God sends our way.
You do not need to have it all together to come and worship. Come in your Sunday best or come just as you are. Sit near the front or slip in at the back. What matters is that you are here, and that the Word is opened for you.
If you have questions before you visit, call the church and we will talk with you. And if you cannot come in person, join us for the livestream on Sunday afternoon.

Our church and its ministry
A lighthouse on Trask Parkway
Canaan Missionary Baptist Church is a congregation of the lowcountry, gathered around the preaching of God's Word. We are Baptist in doctrine and missionary in heart — we believe the gospel is good news for Sheldon, for South Carolina, and for the ends of the earth.
The Word preached
Sunday School and Bible Study open the Scriptures for every age, and Sunday Worship centers on the preaching of the text.
A praying church
We bring our needs, our neighbors and our nation before the Lord, and we would be glad to pray for you.
Missions and outreach
As a Missionary Baptist church, we give and go — supporting the work of the gospel beyond our own walls.
Fellowship and family
Dinners on the grounds, choirs, youth, and the everyday care of one another. This is a family, not just a service.
“For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”
Matthew 18:20

Hold On, Help Is On the Way
Pastor Franklyn Ruth · Psalm 121
We walked through the old familiar words of Psalm 121 and remembered that our help comes from the Lord, the One who never slumbers nor sleeps. Whatever we carried into church that Sunday morning, the Word reminded us that we do not have to carry it alone.

Grace That Runs to Meet You
Pastor Franklyn Ruth · Luke 15
From the parable of the lost son, we saw a Father who does not stand at the edge of the road with folded arms, but runs down it to meet us. Nobody is so far gone that grace cannot find them and bring them home.

A Table in the Wilderness
Pastor Franklyn Ruth · Psalm 23
We dwelt on the Good Shepherd who sets a table for His sheep right in the presence of their enemies. Even in a hard season, the Lord spreads a place for you and invites you to sit down and be fed.
